our story

A DREAM

One night in April of 1992 whilst living in NSW our founding Pastor Rodney Samuels had a dream that he, Daphne and their 5 children were moving. In the dream, he saw a road sign that read “Ballaarat” which is the original spelling of the town we are in Ballarat. Back then Rodney and his family lived in St Marys in NSW having immigrated from Durban South Africa seven years prior. To follow this dream and God’s continual leading would be a big step of faith having no connections and limited resources but God is faithful.

OUR START

Thankfully good friends Ps Tony, Theresa and their family decided to join the Samuels in this move from NSW not knowing they were also in the dream. The church began on the 14th of March 1993 and the ministry began to grow. The Spirit of renewal was at work in Wendouree West.

MOVING

By November 1995 the then Christian Life Church moved to a building on Caravan Street, Wendouree and in 2005 were able to purchase it. The building served us well and was able to see Rodney through to his retirement from what is now known as Voice of Grace Church. Another move was in store however to our current location at 5/901 Doveton St Nth Ballarat.

NEXT GENERATION

Ps Rodney and Daphne always had it in their hearts to raise up people for ministry and gave lots of opportunities to everyone who was willing . In 2017 one of their sons, John-Mark was to take up the role of Senior Minister.

Our Pastor

John-Mark is married to Priscilla since February 2011 and they have 4 children together. John-Mark loves the Word of God particularly in bringing us to the God of the Word.

Mission and values

We believe in the power of God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) and do all things to bring honour and glory to His name.

  • We look to see relational Christianity alive in our fellowship and across Ballarat. We believe that God has called us to a deep love that crosses the borderlines of denominations, races, social economics and any other divisive line. To do this we recognise the importance of the fivefold ministry (Ephesians 4) and the incredible role of every believer.

  • We look to see the people at Voice of Grace becoming spiritual enriched and mature, growing in love and good works.

  • We look to establish and raise intercessors.

  • We look to find ways to meet the needs of the community.

  • We believe in the power of grace to transform lives and communities.

  • We look for a Spiritual Awakening in Ballarat and the salvation of this City.

  • We look to build deep relationships with other fellowships in Ballarat and beyond to facilitate unity across the Body of Christ.

  • We refuse to compete against other churches. For this would be to fight against ourselves.

  • We look to build up people to become effective for the kingdom of God wherever they go.

  • We look to see people flourishing in the Spirit. Having both His fruit and gifts.

Vision Statement
